History of the School
In 1965 the Methodist
Trust, a registered Christian Organisation established the Anita Play
Centre for pre school toddlers, within Balar Kalvi Nilayam campus.
This was upgraded to a Matriculation School in 1987. It grew into
a full fledged Higher Secondary School by 1995. Anita Methodist Matriculation
Hr. Sec. School is affiliated to the Board of Matriculation Schools
of Tamil Nadu, duly recognised by the Government of Tamil Nadu and
the State Board of Higher Secondary Education. |

of the Methodist Church in India. It is managed by the Executive
Board of the Methodist Church in India, which is a Registered
Society and Public Trust. A Board of Governors and a Board of
Management oversee its operations, both headed by the Presiding
Bishop Rt. Rev. Sampath Kumar, Bangalore Episcopal Area of the
Methodist Church. |

Faculty
The
school has a team of professionally trained dedicated teachers,
headed by Dr. Mrs. Sujatha Ross, Principal. The teachers are
trained in the latest educational methods and are focused on
the overall development of each pupil. There is also a contingent
of support staff that help run the school to the highest standards.
Anita Methodist Matriculation Hr Sec School seeks to set high
standards in education. At all levels, periodic tests and examinations
are held to assess each student's progress and computerized
report cards with personalized notes are sent home. |

Sec School is a co-educational school fully equipped to provide
the students all round education. Besides a well-stocked library,
the school boasts of three fully equipped science laboratories
and a state-of-the-art computer center. The school also runs
a students' mess and a canteen. There is a fleet of three buses,
which helps children from all over Chennai commute to school. |

Extra Curricular Activities

Activities
Twice a week the school has compulsory
evening games. Once a week, students participate in different
club activites such as karate, cooking, craft, Guides, Scouts,
NCC, and the brass band. The Interact Club (Rotary, Chennai)
inspires the students to be involved in the social concerns
of our community. The school also encourages students to participate
in various competitions within and outside the school. |

The Project Day, a culmination of theme based work carried out
over a few weeks was attended by parents and students from a
good number of schools in the city.
Two of our Std XII students were selected and sent to attend
a theatre workshop organized by The Madras Players with a theatre
group from Hamburg, Germany, at the Max Mueller Bhavan. |
