The School
Carmel Garden, the First Matriculation
School for boys in the city of Coimbatore was started on the
first of June 1964 by the Coimbatore Catholic Diocese Society
under the auspices of the R.C.Mission.
Founded by his Excellency Rt. Rev. Mgr. Francis M. Savarimuthu,
the then Bishop of Coimbatore, the School came up in a vast
campus of seven acres in prime locality near Sungam and Red
Fields.
Facilities
Library : Our Library is a storehouse of Books,
Periodicals, reference materials etc. It is managed by Mr.C.Joseph
Antony Amalraj M.com., M.L.I.S., B.Ed., P.G.D.C.A, a fully qualified
Librarian. Library period (once a week) is compulsory for all
students from Class IV to Class XII. During Lunch Interval also
library services are provided to the users.
Library
Library Collection : The Library houses a variety
of Books on General interest and rare reference materials,
pamphlets, journals, maps, Back volumes and CD Roms. The collection
of Library Books exceeds 6578 volumes and 3712 Titles.
The Access is indicated by a Call Number. The Books in the
General and Reference sections are classified and arranged
according to Dr.S.Ranganathan's Colon classification Scheme.

Chemistry Lab :
A well equipped spacious lab of dimensions
50' by 25'
Equipped with all types of apparatus and chemicals
that cater to the needs of Matric and Higher secondary Students.
Can accommodate 28 students in a practical
class - each table provided with a sink and water tap.
Equipped with LPG connection - providing each
place a gas tap.
The worktables are provided with cupboards
for students.
Regular practical classes conducted for Matric and Higher Secondary
students.
Biology Lab
Biology Lab :
The Biology Laboratory of the school is situated in the Higher
Secondary block. It is a spacious lab, measuring about 800 Sq.ft.
It is provided with adequate furniture to accommodate about
48 students. The furniture have the features to suit the students
to do their practical work conveniently.The laboratory is equipped
with about 25 Dissection microscopes and 25 Compound microscopes.
A very good number of micro-slides are there
for the observation. There are more than 100 specimen jars containing
various types of plants and animals and their organs.
A big collection of coloured charts is available, to enable the students
understand the smaller and micro details of plants and animals in
magnified diagrams.
A real, life-size human skeleton compiled of real bones is kept in
the laboratory. To develop further interest the skull and horns of
a few wild animals and the portraits of Nobel laureates are also mounted.
The Biology Laboratory features the students not just to learn only
their subjects but also to appreciate nature.
Computer Lab : LAB - I (HIGHER SECONDARY)
The computer lab is situated in the Higher Secondary block measuring
about 800 sq.ft. It is provided with adequate furniture. The lab is
well-equipped, spacious air - conditioned lab with 30 terminals each
of PENTIUM-III with multimedia facilities. Regular practical classes
are conducted for the Higher Secondary students. The computers are
located with the latest operating system and with many software, by
which the students can learn and develop their computing skill.
LAB - II (HIGH SCHOOL) The computer lab is situated in the High
School block measuring about 300 Sq.ft. It is provided with
adequate furniture. We have a well-equipped spacious air-conditioned
lab with 30 terminals each of PENTIUM-III machines with multimedia
facilities, which caters to the need of high school students.
All the computers are provided with Internet facility. The students
are permitted to use the internet to acquire new knowledge.
Computer Lab
LAB - III (PRIMARY SECTION) The computer lab is situated in the Primary section
block measuring about 200 Sq.ft. It is provided with adequate furniture.
This lab is equipped with 6 terminals each of PENTIUM-III machines
with multimedia facilities. Regular practical classes are conducted
for the primary students. The small children are able to learn the
basics of computer. They also learn the Nursery Rhymes and other activities
with software packages loaded in, to entertain and educate the "edutainment".
