About Us
For the rishies of old,
education meant an acquisition of truth and wisdom. It leads one from
darkness of ignorance to the land of eternal brilliance. It means
salvation and bliss. But knowledge alone will not bring salvation.
By practice and application, knowledge has to become wisdom and wisdom
gets transformed into divine force. Life-long effort for self realization.Education
is thus divinizing process. It makes human beings more authentic leading
them to God realization. The CMI Fathers are moving in this direction
aiming at enabling thousands to see God in themselves and to radiate
the same divine light to the world around. It has been realized as
long felt need to have an English medium school in this part of the
city close to Bharathiar University.
Many parents and
the public approached us highlighting the need for such an institution.
Their repeated appeals promoted the CMI Management to start
an educational institution named after their Founder, Blessed
Kuriakose Elias Chavara, who was beatified in February-1986
by Pope John Paul II during his historic visit to India. Very
few know that Blessed Chavara had revolutionized the field of
education by starting schools attached to churches all over
Kerala and beyond during the last Century.
Chavara Yoga
It is this heritage and tradition his followers the CMI fathers are
privileged to continue. Chavara Vidya Bhavan is another link in the
chain of educational institutions run by the CMI fathers all over
India. This school had a humble beginning during the year 1986.
Purpose We aspire towards creating a just and human society
where dignity of the human person is respected, where unjust social
structures are challenged, where our cultural heritage of ahimsa,
religious harmony and national integration is upheld and where the
poor and the marginalized are specially taken care. The CMI Education

Chavara Talent
Our educational endeavors aim at
forming leaders who are intellectually competent, spiritually
mature, morally upright, psychologically integrated, physically
healthy and socially acceptable, who will champion the cause
of justice, love, truth and peace and who are ever open to further
growth. We have to reach out to the families, primarily of the
students, to assist them in their needs to share in their joys,
sorrows and to help them to experience love and freedom, so
that the students realize that our educational institutions
are an extension of their homes.

Special Features of the School
1. Computerised Library :
With the help of our computer teacher Miss. Pavithra, our library
has been computerized. Thanks for the service of Ms.Renuka and M.Sunisha
in the Library. Students can issue and search books with the help
of computer.
2. Free Zone: In
the old campus, there is a Free Zone for the kids to watch T.V, use
computer, play video games and to play and learn a quite number of
toys and puzzles A quite number of C.Ds are there to help the children
learn while play.
3. Audio Visual Room: Audio visual room
is renovated with big computer, Audio system, slide projector and
more than 50 educational cd’s to teach.
4. Alumni Association: To
bring back the students, who had completed their schooling in Chavara,
into the campus again, we have started the Alumni Association.
5. Scout : Chavara Introduced band team
& Scout team this year scouts went for trekking to Marutthamalai
on Ist March.
Quiz Club
:The quiz club is organizing group wise competition at
regular intervals. In order to make all the students involve
in the competition, thought proving questions are put on the
notice board every week. The students have to write the answer
immediately in a paper and put them in the boxes kept separately
according to their groups. The lucky winner from each group,
for each week is selected through lot system and prizes are
given to them. Every month quiz competitions are held on house
wise.
Chavara Dance
The main objective is to make students aware of what is happening
around them. It makes them to read newspapers, magazine and other
informative books.
Library :Our library has a very good variety of books. One
period is allotted in a week for the students to sit in the library
and read books. The extra reading helps them to improve their language.
They learn to express their thoughts clearly. Science Labs :Our Physics, Chemistry and
Biology labs are very spacious and neatly arranged labs. Labs are
decorated with working models and samples. They are equipped with
working models and samples. They are equipped with all facilities
to conduct experiments and practical training is given to the students
two periods in a week for each science subjects.
Computer Lab: A well furnished computer lab with adequate number
of computer systems and Internet connection have been arranged in
the school to give training to the students in the field of computer
education. We have arranged a separate computer lab for the students
of I and II standards in their campus. Science Club: Education should mould new
scientists. With this aim in mind, the Science Club organized its
inauguration and conducts debates, J.A.M (Just A Minute) competitions
on science topics. The students learn to be bold and strong in their
views. They are framed to speak spontaneously. The teachers of science
club help students to develop their thinking power and also learn
by reasoning. Every student do a project work on any topic related
to science. It tempts them to come out with new ideas. They present
working models like blood circulation in our body, volcanic explosion
etc. They collect different specimen and make a beautiful album. The
aim of the club is to make the students understand the topic clearly
and it also discourage cramming. They gain confidence and learn by
exploring things. Prizes are given to the best exhibitant.
1.An online Quiz competition was arranged in our website www.chavaraschool.org
for students of Std. IX, X, XI and XII. The first entry was awarded
with a special prize.
2.Monthly Quiz programme was arranged for lower classes in which they
should answer the questions at the school itself.
Co-curricular Activities: Education should
have a positive outlook based on heritage, national goals and universal
perceptions. It should promote an integrated development of body,
mind and soul.
Following this principle we have made a fast pick up in all round
remarkable progress on all fronts coupled with superb standards, superior
quality of coaching, superlative care and attention to students, collectively
and individually whenever necessary.
Students are divided into four houses. Each group vote their Captain
and Vice Captain. The Sports Captain and Fine Arts Secretary assist
the Physical Director and the Staff Committee Members in organizing
the sports events and cultural competitions. Thus students are trained
to shoulder responsibilities. They develop a good team spirit. Such
activities inculcate in the students the quality of flexibility and
determination to reach a goal.
Yoga Class : Concentration, confidence
and strong will power is necessary to reach our goal. "A sound
mind in a sound body". Only when we have healthy body we can
have clear thinking. Yoga exercises help the students to control their
mind and emotions. They think critically and there by bring excellent
results. So yoga class is conducted once in a week. This class benefits
the students as they develop clear thinking with fresh ideas.
Music Class : Nowadays there is competition
in every field. Students should be well-equipped in all ways. Music
gives new life to the body. We forget ourselves and enter the world
of divine light. Keeping this factor in view, students are taught
music. They learn Karnatic music. Students form 'Chavara Choir Group'.
This class is held once in a week.
Karate class : This class is introduced
to build up self confidence and also they learn to defend themselves
in critical situation. It is also a good exercise to keep the body
as fit as a fiddle. The class is held once in a week.
