Vision
Education is not filling up a pail, but lighting up a candle in
a dark room. Educational System of today demands changes to meet
the local and global needs. With this view in mind GKD Matriculation
Higher Secondary School tries to transform the innate and infinite
potentials of students into demonstratable skills to meet the challenges
of tomorrow. It is strongly felt that the kind of education a student
receives must ensure to be an investment for the future.
The school was established in 1987 in the serene ambience of Perianaickenpalayam,
20kms away from the cotton city of Coimbatore. The campus spreads
over an area of 7 acres with a separate area of 4 acres for the
playground with 400 mts track.
Aims and Objectives
The School
The school is recognised by the
government of Tamilnadu, having classes from LKG to Std XII.
The school follows the Matriculation pattern of syllabus till
class X and Tamilnadu State Board Syllabus in Higher Secondary
classes.
Tamil is taught compulsorily as second language though medium
of instruction is English and Hindi is taught as supplementary
language from Std. III to VIII.
The Higher Secondary classes have the group combination
of : Physics, Chemistry, Maths, Biology
/Computer Science
Commerce, Accountancy, Economics, Computer Science/ Business Maths.
Management
LMW is one among the three in the world manufacturing
the entire range of cotton spinning machinery.
Lakshmi Machine Works Ltd, the leading Textile Machinery manufacturer
in South Asia manages the institution under the dynamic leadership
of Dr.D.Jayavarthanavelu, the Chairman and Managing Director.
This co-education school was established during the Silver Jubilee
year of LMW, 1987. Cav. Dr.G.K.Devarajulu, the tycoon of textile machinery
industry is the founder of this institution. His prodigious son, Dr.D.Jayavarthanavelu,
is working towards realising the vision of the founder Cav. Dr.G.K.Devarajulu.
Since good education is considered as a passport to good future, the
management aims to make this school as a model in the industrial suburb
of Coimbatore.
Over the years the school has made a significant growth under the
able guidance of the dynamic correspondent Thiru. R. Venkatrangappan
whose leadership leads to perfection in the administration of the
school. His goals have been well set and well achieved. The qualitative
and quantitative development of the school reflects his capacity as
the correspondent.
Mr. R. Rajendran, C.F.O., LMW, who is known for his values and commitment
in all walks of life, holds the position of the secretary and bridges
a strong and successful link between the staff and the management
who is capable of capitalising the strength of the management and
the staff to the holistic development of the school.
Mrs. Prasanna Radhakrishnan, the recipient of Dr. Radhakrishnan Award
of Excellence in Teaching adorns the chair of principal whose wide
experience of more than three decades in teaching is a motivating
force to the teaching faculty.

The infrastructure facilities provided by the
benevolent management speak volumes of the Corporate Social Responsibility
of the LMW Group. During its nearly two decades of existence,
GKD School has carved out a niche for itself in the educational
map of Coimbatore. Over the years the institution has made a significant
impact on imparting quality education for the future citizens
of India.

for attaining best results in the Board Examinations.
Information Technology
Computer labs
Innovations
in information technology influence all areas of life from individuals
to those of nations. The school offers the state-of-the-art
computer labs to explore the subject and move beyond the prescribed
syllabus. There are three separate computer labs for the Primary,
Secondary and Higher Secondary students to inspire them to be
confident enough to compete at the global level.
The highly sophisticated computer labs have more than 85 personal
computers to serve the purpose of the individual needs of the students.
Smart Class
Class Room
There
is great need for a new approach, new methods and new tools
in teaching. Mere chalk and talk method of teaching does not
add any spice in learning - teaching process.
Therefore, the Smart Class room concept was introduced in
2003 and the school is pioneer in introducing computer-aided
learning from kindergarten to XII Std.
Selected class rooms have been converted and redesigned into Smart
rooms, where teaching - learning takes place with three dimensional
effect and they are technology enabled class rooms having
a knowledge-centre with a resource Co-ordinator. The Audiovisual room
of the school is adorned with a Plasma TV and a projector for regular
learning as well as for orientation programme.
The school offers separate well-equipped laboratories that cater to
all the branches of Science - Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

To fulfil the quest for knowledge there is a spacious and
well-stocked library which boasts of more than 8000 books
with a diverse collection of reference books, fiction, classics,
novels, periodicals, magazines, newspapers, books on general-knowledge
and volumes of encyclopedia and dictionaries.
Thus provide ample opportunities to the students
to pursue their literary interests and encourage self-study.
