Kendriya Vidyalaya Air Force
Station was established as a full fledged Vidyalaya in 1981
from its earlier status as a branch of primary section of Kendriya
Vidyalaya Coimbatore. Permanent buildings were constructed in
the 12 acres of land provided by the 5BRD at a cost of 1.47
crores. In 1983 higher secondary section with Science, Commerce
and Humanities stream was started. Later the commerce and Humanities
streams were done away with.The school was elevated to the status
of MODEL KENDRIYA VIDYALAYA in 1998 enabling the development
of computer labs , junior science lab , sports infrastructure,etc.
Objectives a) To cater to the educational needs
of the children of transferable Central Government Employees
including Defense and Para-military personnel by providing a
common program of education.
b) To pursue excellence and set pace in the field of school
education.
c) To initiate and promote experimentation and innovation in
education in collaboration with other bodies like the CBSE,
NCERT.
d) To develop the spirit of national integration and create
a sense of Indian ness among children.
The Principal
Salient Features 1. The school is affiliated to the CBSE New Delhi.

3. Sanskrit is taught as third language.
4. Instruction is imparted through the media of Hindi and English.
The ultimate objective is to enable the pupil to achieve proficiency
in both the languages.
5. The text books and Syllabi followed are same as in other Kendriya
Vidyalaya.
6. The school prepares the students for the All India Secondary School
and Senior School Certificate Examinations conducted by the Central
Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) New Delhi.
7. Education up to class VIII is free. However tuition fee at varying
rates are chargeable from the students of classes IX to XII.
8. 100 % free education is given to single girl child having no brother
or sister with effect from 01-01-2006.
9. Spoken English is introduced as part of the curriculum.
10. Global connectivity in education is established through the think.

Location Kendriya Vidyalaya Air Force Station Sulur
located at Kangayampalayam, Air Force Station, Sulur is in the
heart of the textile hub of Coimbatore - Tirupur in Tamil Nadu.
It is on the Coimbatore-Trichy National high way, 24 kilometers
away from the Coimbatore Railway station.
Infrastructure The Vidyalaya has state of the art fracture
facilities for imparting holistic education. It has well furnished
class rooms and spacious play grounds.

Administration The Vidyalaya is run by the Kendriya
Vidyalaya Sangathan , an autonomous body under the ministry
of Human Resource Development, Government of India. Honb’le
HRD minister is the chairman of the Sangathan. The
Sangathan has its headquarters at New Delhi headed by the
Honbl’e Commissioner. The Vidyalaya is under the Chennai
Region which has its office in the IIT campus Chennai.At
the school level the principal is the head of the administration.
