Swami Satchidanandaji Maharaj,
a world renowned Yoga Master, founder of Integral Yoga Institutes
in various parts of the world, has visualised the need for a
school of par excellence. The school SATCHIDANANDA JOTHI NIKETHAN
is his brainchild. To bring this into reality, Swamiji has established
a Trust, viz. Swami Satchidananda Foundation.
Swami Satchidanandaji Maharaj, known as Sri Gurudev by his disciples,
was born on 22nd December, 1914 in Chettipalayam, on the outskirts
of Coimbatore, TamilNadu, India.
During his period of intense sadhana. He studied under many of the
great sages and saints of South India. In 1947, He met his master
H.H. Swami Sivandaji Maharaj, founder of the Divine Life Society.
On the 10th July, 1949 in Rishikesh, He was initiated into the Holy
Order of Sanyas. In 1953, Swami Sivanandaji sent him to Sri Lanka
where he served for the next 13 years.
In 1966, Sri Swamiji was invited to New York for an intended 2-day
visit. He was immediately surrounded by students who wanted to study
Yoga, under His guidance. He extended His stay in the U.S. to fulfill
their wishes, which still continues. He is highly respected and loved
by devotees all over the world. He is the founder of Integral Yoga
Institute with centers throughout North America, as well as in Europe
and India.
Sri Swamiji himself does not belong to any one faith, group or country.
Dedicated to the principle - "Truth is one, paths are many"
- He goes wherever he is asked to serve. He had long dreamed of a
permanent place where all can come together to individually realize
that one Truth behind all names and forms. The LOTUS (Light Of Truth
Universal Shrine) is such a place. Opened in July, 1986, the shrine,
inspired and designed by Sri Swamiji, is located in the U.S.A. at
Satchidananda Ashram, Yoga ville in Virginia. It is dedicated to the
light of all faiths and to world peace and stands as a beautiful example
of the Universal teachings of Sri Swami Satchidandaji Maharaj.
Guidelines to Parents
Admin Office
Parents should make up their minds
to leave the child in the residential school. They are advised
not to make frequent visits. Visiting the child once a month
is ideal for the child and for the parents as well. Parents
are requested to keep in touch with the housemaster / mistress
to get the information regarding the health, progress and problems
of their wards.
Before they leave the child with us, the parents should motivate
the child to stay in the residential school.
In the beginning every child will feel a little home sick. We, at
the school, will make the child adjust and settle down without any
problem. Instruct the child to write a letter every week and do write
to him / her every week.
Facilities
Laboratories : Separate labs are there for Physics, Chemistry
and Biology to make science subjects interesting and practical
oriented. Hostel : Separate
dormitories for boys and girls, under the personal care and
control of House Masters/ House Mistresses as followed in British
Public schools, are provided. In each house only 45 boys/ girls
will be accommodated. Dormitories are spacious, well ventilated,
well lighted, protected from insects with attached baths and
toilets. Cots, mattresses, pillows, pillow covers, bed - spreads,
cup-boards, etc., are provided by the school.
Indoor Games
Food :Our school
has the most modern, spacious and hygenic kitchen and dining hall.
Pure vegetarian food of high nutritious value, in excellent taste,
as specified by a dietician, and prepared by well trained, cooks is
being served. We provide milk three times a day to our students. Fruits
and sprouted salads also for part of our menu. Health Centre :The
school has a 20 bedded health center with modern facilities, under
the control of an experienced doctor and a resident nurse, to look
after the medical requirements of our children. Periodical medical
examinations are being conducted. Dental care facility is also being
provided. A medical report will be sent to the parents along with
the progress reports at regular intervals. Though the entire service
is free, parents have to meet the cost of the medicines.
Computer Lab
Computer Center : To
familiarize the students with the ever developing field of Information
Technology, we have a fully air conditioned computer center
which provides computer education center which provides computer
education from Class IV onwards. Every child gets sufficient
opportunity to work on the computer, as we have one computer
for every two students. The center provides E-mail and Internet
facilities also.
Library : A very
modern library is available with lot of books, magazines, newspapers
and reference books. A well equipped Audio-visual hall is also available
to make the learning process more effective and lively.
Class Rooms :Each class room has 600
sq.ft. area to accommodate a maximum of only 30 students. Every class
room has 8 tube lights, 4 fans and separate lockers for every student
to keep his / her books, etc.
Teaching Staff :We
select highly talented, trained, experienced and rightly motivated
teachers, who receive orientation every year. They are equipped with
all the necessary modern teaching aids. The children have an excellent
friend, guide and philosopher in every teacher.
