Thambu High School was stared on 1st July 1970
in memory of Thambu, the only son of our founder Sri.PalaniSwamy,
with a pupil strength of 53 and staff strength of 2 with standard
6 and 9. Sri. Ramakrishanama Naidu and Palaniswamy charities stared
this school in an area of 6.41 acres. The objectives of the charities
include the establishment and maintenance of Educational Institutions,
conduct of research and acquisition of advanced scientific knowledge.
The Charities assure that there shall be no discrimination on the
ground of class, creed or community. The School obtained recognition
from Tamil Nadu Government on 1st July 1970 for staff grant. Sri Ramakrishnama
Naidu and Palaniswami Charities were renamed as Bluemount Charities
in 1987.
Thambu's birthday is celebrated as school
day on 27th September of every year in a grand manner and thousands
of people throng the school for a cultural fiesta. The Management
and teachers give cash prizes and mementos to meritorious pupil
for their academic excellence on the school day.
Thambu Memory day is observed every year on 27th July with Bhajans
and meditation of our pupils and bhajan parties from outside.
Mr. Chinnaswamy Naidu, an eminent educationist, who was Headmaster
of Mani Higher Secondary School and later its secretary, was the
President of our school Committee from its inception on 19th June
1975 till his death in 1984. Under his sagacious stewardship, our
school benefited a lot. Mr. R.Govindarajulu, the President of No.4
Veerapandi Town Panchayat and well-wisher of this school became
the President of the School committee in 1985 and continued till
1993. As he is a native of this village, and an enthusiastic sports
man, his contribution was commendable. Upon his resignation Mr.E.Venkatesalu
Naidu, another eminent educationist, retired HeadMaster of Rajalakshmi
Mills High School and the present Correspondent of Sri.Ramakrishna
Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Coimbatore, took over the
reins of the Presidentship of our school committee in 1993. His
Association with us is a great honor in the comity of Coimbatore
Schools. The founder, Sri.S.Palaniswamy Naidu, continued as secretary
and Managing trustee of this school for 22 years. The school made
great strides during his stewardship. Mrs.P.Pappayammal has token
as the Managing trustee of BLUEMOUNT Charities. Sri.S.Palaniswamy
Naidu handed over the secretary ship to his daughter, Mrs.Chitra
Samapthkumar, B.Com., in 1992. After her assumption of office, 14
more class rooms have been built. Higher Secondary was stared in
1994. It has well planned and well equipped Physics, Chemistry,
Biology labs and an Air Conditioned Computer Science room with 20
computers and 2 printers which also has an internet connection.
Our newly built computer room cum meeting hall is nearly 2000 squire
feet and has 08 computers, a Dot matrix printer and 2UPS.
The First Headmaster of the school was Mr.P.N.Balakrishnan (20-07-2025
to 12-01-2025). Mr.V.Naryanaswamy B.A., B.T., was appointed as Headmaster
in 1976. He came on deputation from Tamilnadu Educational Service
(Deputy Inspector of schools). He was Headmaster from 06-02-2025
to 05-02-1979. English Medium was stared during his tenure of office.
Mr.A.Palaniswamy M.A., M.Ed., assumed office as
Headmaster in 1979 and retired on 31-5-1999. Since his assumption
of office our school began getting more percentage of result in
SSLC. Our school became one of the famous schools in Coimbatore
Educational District, not only in academic studies but also in sports
and games, literary field etc., The Management conducted a grand
farewell party to him and offered him a diamond ring in recognition
of his service.
The then Asst.Headmaster Mr.N.C.Nandagopalan was
given the appointment order on 31-05-2025 as Headmaster and felicitated
by the Management.
Mr.N.C.Nandagopalan took over the charge as Headmaster
on 01-06-1999. To help him Mr.G.R.Naryanaswamy, Maths Asst, was
appointed as Asst.Headmaster on 16-06-1999. During their tenure
our schools developed by leaps and bounds and assume great heights
among the Educational Institutions Mr.N.C.Nandagopalan was the recipients
of Dr. Radhakrishnan award in the year 2004 and wish him be National
awardees this year (2006).
Mr.N.C.Nandagopalan laid down office on 31.05.2006. Our duo secretaries
with their august gathering of trustees and teachers bid him a grand
farewell with remarkable gift of a diamond ring. Their benevolence
is a hall mark in the annuals of our institutions.
Mr.J.Soundararaj, our English Teacher took over the charges as Headmaster

Selvi.S.Janaki Ramani, an English Medium pupil,
got the state Third rank in English 1992-93 S.S.L.C Public Examination
by scoring 97/100. Selvi.V.Vahini, another English Medium pupil,
scored 476/500 in 1996-97 S.S.L.C. Public Examination, and was Second
Rank holder in total in Coimbatore Revenue District. She got a Merit
Scholarship from the Chief Minister of Tamilnadu besides free education
up to her graduation. R.Baskaralingam of X stands 3rd in Coimbatore
revenue District in 2001 S.S.L.C Public Examination by securing
483 marks. We have achieved 99% in X STD in April 2003. We achieved
district II and III ranks in the SSLC Examination 2002 March results.
In 2004 March SSLC examination, we stand 2nd in
Coimbatore Educational District. When our student B. Mercy Madilda
scored 487/500. In 2005 March SSLC Examination, we stand 1st in
Coimbatore Educational District when our student R. Srimathi scored
481/500. Our pupil S.P. Chitra attained Coimbatore District 1 rank
in +2 Examinations March 2006.
Our school is the only school to got 100%result
in plus 2 public examinations March 2006 in Coimbatore Educational
District among 112 state board schools.
English Medium sections have been getting almost
100% results in S.S.L.C. public Examinations. Selvan L.Sudarsan
of Std. XII stood first in Tamil by scoring 191/200 in Higher Secondary
Public Examination in 1997 in Coimbatore Revenue District and he
was awarded Rs.5,000/- (Rupees Five Thousand only) from Dinakaran
Tamil Daily.
Our school got 100% result in plus 2 Examination
five times in 6 years.
N.C.C. was started in 1978 with 100 cadets and the
first A.N.O. was Mr.N.C.Nandagopalan and consequent on his appointment
as Assistant Headmaster in1980, he relinquished his role as A.N.O
in 1981. The second A.N.O. was Mr.K.T.Palaniappan (1982 to 1987)
the Third N.C.C.Officer was First Officer J.Soundararaj. At Present
Third Officer K.Ramesh is our A.N.O.
In sports and games our pupils have won laurels
in Coimbatore North Zone, Inter Zone and Inter District Levels.
Boopalan has won many prizes in chess Tournaments at State and National
Levels.
Tamil Lit. Association has been conducting meetings
once in two months and eminent speakers from different spheres grace
the functions. The pupils participate in the competition in the
neighbourhood and win many prizes.
English literary Association was started for the
first time in our school on 31.08.2025 for the furtherance of English
Language teaching and the promotion of spoken English component.
Scout, Junior Red Cross has also been doing a good
service in and outside the school. Four Scouts of our school have
won Rastrapathi Purashkar award in 2003, and 2 Scouts have won Rajya
Puraskar award.
N.S.S. was stared in August 1999 with the strength
of 55. Each NSS student does 120 hours of work in a year besides
taking part in annual and special camps for community living and
social service.
Teachers’ Day is celebrated in a grand manner
every year. Our teachers on completion of 20 years of service are
honored. Retired teachers of other institutions and award winning
teachers are also honored on the occasion by the management.
The trait helping others is fostered here. Our children
collected Rs.20, 000/- (Rupees Twenty Thousand only) towards contribution
to Helpage India in 1985.We have a corpus of Rs.50,000/- (rupees
fifty only) to help our physically handicapped pupils.
Our Headmaster donates Rs.2000/- worth of books
every year to the school Library on the occasion of his birthday,
15th august (He was born on 15 August 1947, our Independence Day).
He donates Rs.2000 to students for their academic excellence every
year. He organizes a Year End Party to all the members of the Staff
as a token of his appreciation for their unstained Co-operation
during the academic year.
Our Headmaster was honored with Dr.Radhakrishnan Award by the Government
of Tamilnadu in 2004 for his meritorious and distinguished service.
He is the First Recipient of this prestigious award in our school
history since 1970.
The Headmaster with the help of generous minded
people around has collected nearly Rs.16000 this year to help economically
weaker students for the payment of their fees.
Focus is given to specific aspects on Saturday like
1.Libray 2.Dictionary 3.Grammar Exercises 4.Supplementary reader.
Special coaching is imparted to slow learners between 4.00 pm and
5.00 pm on all days and Saturdays.
A full time Librarian was appointed in June 2001
for inculcating the reading habit among the pupils. There are 6256
books and every year Rs.20, 000 is spent for the purchase of books.
Our School with a large number of trees looks like Shanti Nikethan.
Daily prayer is conducted and excellent talks are made by teachers
over the mike for the Spiritual and Cultural and Development of
the students.
The Teachers work as a team for the furtherance of education. The
management with Mr.N.Sampathkumar as Secretary of Thambu Nursery
and Primary School and Mrs.Chitra Sampathkumar as Secretary of Thambu
Higher Secondary School has been doing everything possible to make
Thambu Educational Institution as a Model Institution. The teachers
hold them in high esteem and do dedicated service. The other three
daughters of our founder president, the three son-in-law and the
close relatives of all the four families have identified fully with
the Thambu Educational Family for its all round development for
which the teaching and non-teaching staff honor them greatly. |
