The Institute of Psychological Research and Service was set up in 1945 and was inaugurated by Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru in 1947. Diploma in Applied Psychology and later MA and M.Sc courses in Applied Psychology were conducted here till 1954-55. However M.A. and M.Sc. teaching courses were merged in the University Department of Psychology, but research and Psychological services have been rendered through this institute since its establishment and are still carried out.
