Bharata Mata College
is a first grade arts and science co-educational institution in
the aided sector owned and managed by the Archdiocese of Ernakulam
Angamaly. Established in July 1965 by the late Cardinal Joseph
Parecattil and situated at Thrikkakara facing the new Seaport-Airport
road, it is affiliated to the Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam.
It stands in the vicinity of such landmarks like the CUSAT, the
NPOL, the Model Engineering College and the Ernakulam civil station.
The College serves the higher education needs of a socially, economically
and educationally backward area comprising the revenue district
of Ernakulam. The College runs 13degree courses and P.G. courses.
In addition, it is an approved Off Campus Centre under M.G. University.
The College has nearly 1300 students on its roll of whom 60% are girls.
There are 80 members in the teaching faculty and 60 members in the administrative
faculty.
