All Saints’ College
was established in 1964 by the congregation of the Carmelite Religion
of Trivandrum, to provide value-based education to girls of all
castes and creeds. Today, it is a full-fledged institution at Chackai,
a fishing village near airport, offering Undergraduate and Post
Graduate courses.
The Department of English is a recognised Research Centre of the Kerala
University. The present strength of the college is 3700. Students come
from a variety of backgrounds, some urban and some, the first generation
leaders of the fishing community at Chackai. Facilities in the college
include well-equipped laboratories, well-furnished Library with over
44,000 books, Computer Centre, Vocational Centre for imparting tailoring
and typing skills and a Green House.
The teaching faculty comprises 115 teachers of whom 14 have Ph.D. and
37 have M.Phil Degree; 15 teachers are currently working for their doctoral
degrees.Our students have consistently excelled in sports, securing championship
in swimming, cycling, tennis, football and cricket. Many students are
part of the Kerala State and University teams.
Various cultural activities in the college are organised by the Arts
Club and the Literary and Debating Association. The Science Club and
History - Economics Association create awareness on present day
trends. Women’s Studies Cell and Kuruvi Nature Club actively support
causes of women and the Environment respectively. The P.T.A. and O.S.A.
provide necessary amenities for the college. Extension activities are
undertaken by the AICUF and the N.S.S. In 1991 and in 1996 our principal
was awarded Certificates of Merit for the creditable work of N.S.S.
