The college was
founded in 1965. Located in a sprawling area of acres of rustic
land, the college is run by the Society for Higher Education of
the S.I.U.C. community of South Kerala of Diocese of the C.S.I.
This institution caters to the educational needs of students mostly
from Neyyattinkara and Nedumangadu Taluks.
The college had a humble beginning with 300 students and about ten teachers.
It was upgraded in 1976. It now offers two degree courses in Arts, five
in Science and a P.G. course in Botany. The student strength exceeds
3500. There are 104 teaching and 64 non-teaching staff on the rolls.
Many teachers possess research degrees.
The college can legitimately boast of very high results in the University
examinations. N.C.C. and N.S.S units function effectively; extra-curricular
activities initiated with the interest of the management give ample opportunities
for the all round development of students.
The library and laboratories are well-equipped. The biotechnology lab
is fully developed. The spacious auditorium is the envy of any one. The
stadium and the various courts provide opportunities for training in
sports and games.
There are two college buses for the use of students and staff. The P.
T. A. is very active. Students of the college have occupied high positions
in the Kerala University Union.
Rt. Rev. Dr. J.W Gladstone, the Bishop of C.S.I South Kerala Diocese,
is the Patron of the college and Mr. I. Clement is the present manager.
