A child of the social revolution brought about in Kerala under the inspiring leadership of Sree Narayana Guru, Sree Narayana College for Women was established in Kollam in 1951.

Under the dynamic leadership of Sri. R. Sankar, the founder Manager, the college made commendable progress and it is now the second largest Women's College in the State, with a strength of about 4,500 students, offering Degree courses in 14 subjects - English, Malayalam, Hindi, History, Economics, Music, Commerce, Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Zoology, Botany, Home Science and Post Graduate course in Home Science.

The present strength of the teaching faculty is 135 and that of the non-teaching staff is 32.
