The T.K.M. College
of Arts & Science was established by the visionary philanthropist
Janab Thangal Kunju Musaliar. The college was declared open by
Prof. Samuel Mathai, Vice-Chancellor, University of Kerala, on
24th June 1965.
On its early days the student strength was hardly 500, with a faculty
of 15 supported by 10 non-teaching Staff. The College now offers undergraduate
course in Islamic History, English Language and Literature, Mathematics,
Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Commerce and PG course in Mathematics,
Chemistry and Commerce. The student strength has shot up to more than
4,000 and the faculty number about 120 and the non-teaching staff more
than 75.
The college has been included under the U.G.C.Scheme since 1986. The
NCC and Adult Education Units of the college have won many accolades
for their services. A hostel for girls was completed in 1996. Right from
its inception, the T.K.M.College of Arts and Science has earned and zealously
guarded an enviable reputation for discipline and academic excellence.
