Asan Memorial College of Arts & Science is co-educational and it offers, interalia, Courses on Computer Application, Management, Commerce & Science. The cherished objective of the Institution is to equip youngmen and women students with knowledge in respective job oriented subjects , good character and true sense of human values. In addition to imparting education with ability to face the challenges and requirements of life, this institution endeavours to conserve the rich traditions and culture of this great country, by imbibing them on a sound sense off respect for our heritage.

This College functions on self - financing basis. No grant is obtained from Government or any funding Agency to meet capital expenditure or day-to-day expenses. It sustains itself on the self generated funds for its establishment and development.

The College, equipped well with all the necessary infrastructural facilities, consists on an array of imposing architecturally and aesthetically appealing buildings on a sprawling campus spread over 12 acres.

The College was formally inaugurated by His Excellency
Mr. K.R . Narayanan, the then Honourable Vice President of India on 10th December, 1994 in the presence of His Excellency Vakkom Purushothaman, Lt. Governor of Andaman & Nicobar.

In 1994-95, the University of Madras issued orders of affiliation for five courses viz.

The College is managed by Asan Memorial Association (Regd.) Chennai, registered under Society Act., founded in memory of the great Malayalam poet Mahakavi Kumaran Asan of Kerala. The Governing Body consists of eminent persons from different walks of life, who are devoted and highly dedicated to the Association. Shri . A.K. Gopalan, continues to be the guiding supreme and the moving spirit behind the Asan Memorial Educational Institutions. The College Management Committee functions also with the representatives of staff as members.
