The Allahabad Agricultural Institute was established in 1910 as a Department of Allahabad Christian College (presently known as Ewing Christian College). In 1911, the Agricultural and Technical Departments of the college were shifted across the Jamuna River from Allahabad and Allahabad Christian College on a 264 acre of badly eroded land purchased for the purpose of Agricultural Institute.
