January 16th, 1860 : St. Xavier's College was founded by a small group of Jesuit Fathers under the leadership of Fr. H. Depelchin.
Classes started at the present location in the building of what had been, since 1840, the famous Sans Souci Theatre.

1862 : Affiliated to Calcutta University.

1866 : The College Department presented its first B.A. candidate
