To augment the pool of technical personnel in the country and to update the expertise of Engineers, Managers and Scientists, Post - Graduate School of continuing Technological Education was established in the year 1976. To take the knowledge and skills of technology to the doorstep of learners spread over nook and corner of the state, and thus contribute substantially to the pool of technical manpower, Centre for Distance Education was established in 1983. To coordinate the academic programmes and activities of both the wings, they have been merged and designated as School of Continuing and Distance Education (SCDE) in 1989. The school is run on a self - supporting basis and provides opportunity for career advancement through professional upgradation to working personnel.
