The headquarters of the University is at Hyderabad. The University Act was passed by the Parliament in 1997 and it came into existence on 9th January, 1998. Its Administrative Office has been set up at Hyderabad. It has Regional Officers at Delhi, Patna and Bangalore. It's aim is to promote and develop Urdu language and to impart vocational and technical education in Urdu medium through conventional and distance education system.
