The Academic Staff College was sanctioned by the University Grants
Commission, New Delhi in October 1987 under the New Education Policy,
1986. It was initially started in October 1987 as a part of the University
Teaching Department of Education. Academic Staff College, Indore
was created as an interuniversity institute academic (ASC) department
of the university with the appointment of regular faculty in 1989.
Since then, it has been working as a full fledged department and
regularly organizing courses for university/colleges.
These courses
are mandatory for promotion to next higher grade. Madhya Pradesh
Government has committed to take over ASC positions
once the UGC grant ceases. At present 100% grant is provided by
UGC, New Delhi. In terms of performance, the college has earned
reputation as one of the leading institutions in India and stands
first among three ASC's in M.P |
